I’m writing a book

I’ve been writing a book since May of last year.  I put in over 10 hours on it this week and am so excited to share about it since it is getting close to it’s final shape.  Pretty much all my energy has been going into that when I’m not taking care of the baby.   It’s coming along far enough that I wanted to share about it and let you know to be looking for it in the coming months.

There have been some ups and downs this week with the book and as I share some personal stories I remember all that God has done for me.  I also cry about the pain of where I’ve been and sometimes where I still am.

I’ve been keeping the book under wraps as it goes through the many phases of the creative process.  At times I let it sit for a couple months until I get the next piece.  This week, I was able to take it from a ball of clay into an actual form.   There have been times of amazing inspiration when the words are flowing and there have been times of writer’s block.

Coming out soon!

I’m so excited to share it with you soon.  I’m in the process of researching publishing methods and deciding if I want to go with a traditional publisher or self-publish.   This book is about freedom from the things we struggle with and has personal stories of how I’ve overcome certain things in my life.  I am still in the process of healing and I hope to speak to people who are still struggling through pain like I am.

This book is part of my vision and my purpose to help women who have been through the same things I have and believed that they were alone.  I was in despair and desperation for so many years and I want to give hope to women who are in that place.  Ultimately, I am doing my best to put it into God’s hands and believe He will open and close the right doors.

Sharing my vision

What I’m sharing is a fulfillment of a vision God gave me for my life 14 years ago.  I explain this vision and talk about my life’s story a little bit in the book.  I point to God throughout as the answer to some of life’s very tough questions of pain and difficultly.  I examine the modern church and talk about why sometimes it is not getting to the root of what people need.  You are the first to know about the book outside of a handful of friends and family.  Here is an excerpt from the book:

“What if all Christians walked in freedom, the largest amount of freedom we could have while on this Earth?  If we would be willing to look at our own reflections and work through our pain, how much good could we accomplish and how much pain could we prevent in others? God could do so much through surrendered, healed, and free people.  People who are hurting hurt people.  It’s always been that way.  What if we as Christians dedicated ourselves to stopping these painful cycles?

There are cycles of abuse, addiction, worthlessness, and rejection and they cause us to become blind to the power we have in Christ.  It feels natural to us.  We can overcome these things in Jesus’ name.  If we just started with ourselves and our own families, what a difference that could make!  My heart breaks to see the bondage and brokenness all around us.  Can we at least work toward our own freedom and in that way begin to see some real change in our lives?”

What the book is about

It’s all about about learning how to fight for ourselves and our families.  It’s about freedom from abuse and worthlessness.  Much like Mama Bear Prayer, my goal is to empower people to find the best version of themselves.

There some books out there on the topic of difficulty and freedom in Christ that I’ve read and recommend like Beth Moore’s Breaking Free and Lysa Terkheurt’s It’s Not Supposed to Be This Way. My book takes a personal  approach talking about what I have seen work in my life to produce lasting change.  I talk more about how the church and our culture is failing and give some examples of how we can fix this problem.  I’m excited to share my story of what God has done in my life and hope and pray that God can use it to help people gain freedom.   I’m projecting late spring to early summer as the publication date.

Is there anyone else who has published something very personal to them?  I’d love to hear your story.  Has anyone else found something so profound that they just have to share it with the world?  Tell me about it.  As always, I’m praying for you and am so grateful that you’re here.  God bless us and keep us.
